The Book and the Film

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a children's book written by Roald Dahl. It was released in 1964 and it has been translated into 55 languages since then. It is about the adventures of Charlie Bucket inside Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. Charlie is a poor boy who is lucky enough to win one of the five tickets for the tour of the Chocolate Factory. This fine little fellow, as his grandpa calls him, also wins Wonka's heart and becomes his successor. 




Roald Dahl wrote the screenplay for the film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory which was released in 1971. In 2005, Tim Burton released his own adaptation of the book. His film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory starred Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka and Freddie Highmore as Charlie Bucket.
